Hiring Foreign Workers – Playing by the Rules

The Temporary Foreign Worker rules are becoming tighter each day, and enforcement against non-compliant employers is increasing. Employers need to know about recent changes to the Labour Market Opinion (LMO) application process and the Temporary Foreign Worker program.

Participants got an overview of recent changes to the LMO requirements and application process to best manage the recruitment process for foreign workers. Attendees gained insight into the increased minimum advertising and recruitment requirements and exemptions, approximate processing times and how to prepare job market impact statements and transition plans in order to hire foreign workers. Employer Compliance requirements under the Temporary Foreign Worker program and consequences of non-compliance were also covered.
