A Personal Message
We are pleased to announce the opening of our new Employment Law Mediation Centre on Main Street Unionville in the historical McKinnon-Eakin House, circa. 1835.
I have had the privilege of working with many of you as a Mediator over the years. As many of you know, I have been practicing Employment Law for over 30 years (representing employers and employees) and mediating Employment Law disputes since receiving my Mediation Certificate from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1998. Our firm name Minken Employment Lawyers reflects that we exclusively practice Employment Law.
Since 2009 I have had the privilege of being listed by Canadian HR Reporter as one of Canada’s Top Employment Law practitioners in Canada’s Employment Law Directory, regularly write articles for Canadian Employment Law Today and HR Reporter, and have been invited to speak and conduct workshops for various companies, the Human Resources Professional Association, The Law Society of Upper Canada, Osgoode Hall Professional Development Centre and numerous chambers of commerce both locally and in the United Kingdom.
I believe that successful representation in Employment Law requires advanced skills of dispute resolution. Having represented both sides for over 30 years gives me a unique perspective and definite advantage in assessing issues objectively and resolving Employment Law disputes.
I believe that effective mediation requires more than just legal knowledge. It includes using insight and savvy to balance a multitude of personalities and viewpoints, and to arrive at a solution that is tailored to both parties. Although at times the parties may feel that mediation leads to a lose-lose compromise my extensive experience proves otherwise – the objective to arrive at a constructive win-win solution that all parties have taken part in crafting is the result.
