Neal Sommer, LL.B., Counsel

Neal has over 30 years of experience devoted solely to finding practical and effective workplace employment and labour solutions. His focus in labour law has earned him a reputation not only locally but also nationally.

Neal takes a genuine interest in every case he takes on and strives to maximize opportunities to engage in dispute resolution and conduct hearings in the most cost effective and timely manner. He assists clients with all aspects of labour relations including collective bargaining, arbitration, policy development and training.

Regularly appearing before courts and tribunals, Neal has represented employers and appeared before a range of adjudicative bodies in Canada including the Superior Court of Justice, Ontario Labour Relations Board, Canada Industrial Relations Board, and Ontario Human Rights Tribunal. He has extensive experience working with for employers in both private and public sectors and has represented companies in many industries, ranging from small start-ups to large national and multi-national businesses.

Furthermore, Neal has served on the Boards of Directors of Yellow Brick House – Women’s shelter in Aurora. He has developed training materials and conducted training seminars on various HR, Labour Relations and Human Rights topics and has Co-authored a book on Labour law titled “Understanding the Labour Relations Act” (2 ed.), Canada Law Book, with Stewart D. Saxe.
