Ronald S. Minken, B.A. (Hon.), LL.B.

Ron heads Minken Employment Lawyers – a Global Award Winning Employment Law Boutique located in York Region in the Greater Toronto Area, Ontario, Canada.  He is well known by clients and the business community, both nationally and in the United Kingdom and the United States, as an energetic and passionate proponent for employment law.  He is privileged to be in the ranks of world business leaders who have been invited to speak at the Canada-United Kingdom Chamber of Commerce at the High Commission located in the Canadian Embassy in London, England.  For many years, Ron has also been recognized as one of Canada’s top employment lawyers by Canadian HR Reporter in its Canada’s Employment Lawyers Directory.

What started as an early interest in people’s challenges and rights grew into a career focused on using a comprehensive selection of legal tools available to achieve effective results for his clients. Ron’s persistence as a strategic negotiator has also earned him a reputation for his ability in overcoming obstacles to achieve results. He draws on years of experience in employment law to develop streamlined and cost-effective processes for managing each case.

Ron has worked at such downtown Toronto law firms as Cassels Brock and Weir Foulds. He graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1988 and was called to the Bar of Ontario in 1990. Ron also holds a Certificate in Mediation from Osgoode Hall Law School.

Over the course of his career, Ron has appeared before many levels of Ontario Courts, including the Court of Appeal. He has also made submissions to the Supreme Court of Canada, and had the honour of working with such eminent counsel as the late Glen W. How, Q.C.

Ron has always been an avid communicator on employment law and is frequently interviewed by Carswell/Thomson Reuters for nation-wide webinars on such topics as Bill 168: Violence and Harassment in the Workplace and Constructive Dismissal—Dead or Alive?

Ron is also known in the UK as a source of Canadian employment law expertise and is privileged to be a guest speaker at the Canada-UK Chamber of Commerce on the topic of his authored work, Doing Business in Canada—Employment Law Essentials.
