Increase of Minimum Wage in Ontario on the Horizon

Written by on March 25, 2010 in Employment Law Blog, Legislation

On Wednesday, March 31, 2010, the Ontario Government will again be raising Ontario’s minimum wage requirement from the current $9.50 established in 2009 to $10.25.

This annual raise, which has been increased by $3.40 since 2004, should be noted by both employees and employers all across Ontario. Failure to change the pay of an employee who is earning minimum wage in accordance with this annual increase will be a violation of the Employment Standards Act, 2000.
