WorkSafeBC’s Board of Directors has approved three new Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) policies of the Workers Compensation Act regarding workplace bullying and harassment. The objective of the new policies is to clarify the obligation and role of employers, supervisors and workers to prevent and address bullying and harassment in the workplace.

All employers, supervisors and workers in British Columbia must be compliant with the new policies by November 1, 2013. WorkSafeBC prevention officers will respond to any workplace bullying and harassment concerns through existing inspections, as they would for any OHS requirements.

To assist employers with these policy changes, a tool kit has been developed and is now available.
