Our Community Commitment

our community

We believe in seeing the whole, not just the parts.

Just as law requires the ability to see the whole as well as the parts of a case, we view our firm, not as an entity within itself but as one part of the diversity that makes up the community.

Active Corporate Citizenship

For over 30 years, Minken Employment Lawyers has been a corporate sponsor for numerous Canadian business events, Boards of Trade and Chambers of Commerce. Our firm was recently nominated for the Markham Board of Trade’s High Quality and Service Award.

We believe in stimulating local economies by using local vendors wherever possible and we do not outsource any legal work to foreign contractors.

Our lawyers regularly author educational articles and presentations for publications, workshops and events designed to advance the knowledge of Canadian employment law for the business community, both locally and abroad.

Our Green Office Environment

We strive to keep our offices and equipment updated with green initiatives and to ensure a healthy work environment for our employees. We currently use a thin computing and terminal management environment that results in major reductions in energy usage and CO2 emissions.

Our participation in PowerStream’s Power Savings Blitz resulted in our promoting and sharing the benefits of the program at the Greening Your Small Business breakfast seminar.

Nurturing the Arts and Athletics

A well-rounded community makes a stronger community. Every year, the firm sponsors teams and tournaments for young local athletes, such as the Markham Waxers Novice A hockey team.

We also support and donate funds to the Markham Theatre, Markham and Unionville Jazz Festivals, and Roy Thomson Hall.

Supporting Community Health

Every year, our firm funds and supports staff who participate in the walk for The Weekend to End Women’s Cancer. We support causes that are personally important to our staff members and that benefit the community as a whole.

We have made charitable donations to the Richmond Hill Hospice and the Markham Stouffville Hospital, and have also sponsored fundraising events for the expansion of the hospital.
