Effective October 1, 2015, the government of Ontario will raise the general minimum wage from $11.00 per hour to $11.25 per hour. The minimum wage rate for Students, Liquor Servers, Hunting and Fishing Guides and Homeworkers will also increase on October 1, 2015.

This minimum wage increase reflects recent changes to the Employment Standards Act, 2000, which ties increases in the minimum wage to Ontario’s Consumer Price Index.

Each year by April 1 minimum wage increases are to be announced and will take effect on October 1 of the same year.
