Congratulations to the finalists and winners of the Newmarket Chamber of Commerce 2011 Business Excellence Awards!

Minken Employment Lawyers would like to congratulate all the finalists and winners as well as all the businesses recognized by being nominated for various categories of the Award!

On October 19, 2011, Minken Employment Lawyers once again had the privilege of being a Décor Sponsor of the Newmarket Chamber of Commerce’s 2011 Business Excellence Awards. The event celebrated the achievements of leading businesses that have successfully contributed to the economic growth and social well-being of the Town of Newmarket in York Region, Ontario. Recipients were honoured at the Chamber’s Business Excellence Awards Dinner ceremony, held at The Manor, Carrying Place Golf & Country Club. 

AWARD CATEGORIES

The Bell Innovation Award:

Winner:              Neptune Innovations
Finalists:            Renewable Watts Canada; iNetAgent

Criteria: Must be in business for at least 1 year; Recognizes extraordinary innovation in the use of technology: Must have utilized an innovative and creative approach to integrate leading-edge  technology into their business; The use of the technology must have a significant impact on the company’s business plan.  

Not-for-Profit of the Year Award:           

Winner:              Rose of Sharon Services for Young Mothers
Finalists:            
Inn From The Cold Inc.; Neighbourhood Network 

Criteria: Must be in operation for at least 1 year; Recognizes a registered not for profit organization which has exceptional community service and leadership: 

  • Broadened Education of their Service                      
  • Innovative Services Community Involvement
  • Promoted Volunteerism                                             
  • Positive Contribution to Society
  • Social & Community Advancements

Environmental Leader of the Year Award:

Winner:              Mr. Janitorial Supplies Inc.
Finalists:            Quest Geothermal; Scholastic

Criteria: Must be in business for at least 1 year; Recognizes a company that is accountable for exceptional environmental awareness and practices; Company does not have to manufacture or represent a green product, but must exercise innovative and sustainable initiatives (i.e. encourage alternative commuting methods, have an active green team, etc.).

  • Encouraging Environmental Responsibility

Chuck Cino New Business of the Year Award:

Criteria: Must be in business more than 1 year and less than 5 years; Recognizes outstanding achievement as a New Business in some or all of the following:

  • Research and Development

  • Products and Services
  • Market Development                    
  • Sales & Marketing                   
  • Community Service

Professional Services Business of the Year Award:

Winner:              Roadhouse & Rose Funeral Home
Finalists:            Allen. H. Koroll C.A. Professional Corporation; Northern Reproductive Therapies

Criteria: Must be in business for at least 1 year; This business must exemplify professionalism and integrity; This category includes, but not limited to, lawyers, doctors, dentists, accountants and other professional service providers; Recognizes outstanding achievement is some or all of the following:

  • Market Development                    
  • Sales & Marketing                   
  • Community Service

Small Business of the Year Award:

Winner:               Warden Restoration Ltd.

Criteria: Must be in business for at least 3 years; Recognizes outstanding achievement in some or all of the following:

Large Business of the Year Award:
