PDF BILL 148 — FAIR WORKPLACES, BETTER JOBS?
On November 22, 2017, Bill 148 was passed, resulting in amendments to the Employment Standards Act, 2000 and the Occupational Health and Safety Act that have significant impact on employers throughout Ontario. Increases to the minimum wage, vacation and leave entitlements, misclassification of employees and scheduling of work hours are some areas that are affected by these amendments. With many changes already in place and more on the horizon, employers are required to alter their current business practices to comply with the new legislation.
